Passata Day 2018

Join us on Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th February for our annual Passata Day at Mercato.

Passata day is an annual Italian tradition that’s celebrated around Australia, often in January/February when tomatoes are at their best. It involves families coming together, chopping tomatoes, boiling them and then bottling the mixture for cooking throughout the year.

Of course, at the end of a hard day’s work, it also calls for a classic Italian lunch, with homemade wine and lots of laughter.

You will be taught how to make your own Passata and Pelati using locally grown Roma tomatoes under the expert guidance of Imma, Mario and their tomato crew.
They will share their family secrets and tips to making the best passata followed by a 3 course long table lunch with matching Italian wines.
