Producer: Redhouse - David Ridge

Grape: Sangiovese 90% Merlot 10%

Pronunciation: ‘San-gio-veh-ze’

Region: Barossa, South Australia

Zone: Lyndoch, Barossa Valley

Producer Info:

This is the seventh Redhouse red and the fourth under the ‘Mediterrane’ label. Again based on a wonderful mature Lyndoch (Barossa Valley) Sangiovese vineyard, this time it’s almost entirely Sangiovese.

Tasting note: “It follows the recent pattern of an easy-drinking, savoury red – with just that little bit more. The source has changed for this wine, and it comes from the heart of the Barossa’s ‘Golden Mile’, from a vineyard planted to the superior Brunello (Grosso) clone of Sangiovese and it shows in a change of style. This is more the dense black cherry Sangiovese fruit character, still weighty, but maybe in an even more recognizable Chianti (or Rosso di Montalcino) style. Really zingy and finely savoury/tannic..” David Ridge
