2013 PIPOLI GRECO FIANOPipoli
Grape: 60 % Greco 40% Fiano
Zone: IGT of Basilicata
Valentino Sciotti (of Vesevo, Gran Sasso and other Farnese estates) took over this small cooperative in Basilicata in Acerenza in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture zone in 2008. Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini, now works with talented youngDennis Verdicchia, and together they managed to capture the character of the grapes and the zone superbly in the bottle.
Tasting note: Light gold in colour, with an intense, clean perfume of summer flowers and white peaches. On the palate it is intense but fresh, with a lemon and lime twist to the ripe, tropical and peachy fruit character. Good depth and lively finish.
Growing System: Guyot
Production: Stainless Steel fermented which is then aged for 4-6 months in stainless steel tanks.
