Traditional Italian nougat is hard and when you decide to immerse yourself into this wonderful world you have two choices; you can either bite into it or let it melt in your mouth like a hard candy – which is what the true aficionados do.
When it comes to flavors and ingredients, however, there’s a lot more variety: torrone can feature toasted almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios, pine nut or sesame seeds all smothered in a sweet, honey-based nougat and sometimes covered in chocolate. Each region throughout Italy has their own recipe and it has now become a Christmas tradition of giving nougat as a gift.
On Wednesday 21st December, we will be showcasing different Torrone from abruzzo, Benevento & Sicily. Each nougat is highly prized from each region and the ingredients used are second to none.
